Very passionate about applied corpus linguistics research, I think DACRE is the missing link in developing the conceptual framework for corpus-based contrastive academic writing studies, which I have been working on for several years now. After investigating the lexico-grammatical profiles of Romananian Learner English in my PhD thesis (Albert-Ludwig Unviersity of Freibug),  conducting applied corpus research at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences, and finally building the first Romanian-English bilingual corpus of academic genres while coordinating ROGER, DACRE will offer the expert writing dataset for multidimensional comparisons, such as: novice versus expert writing, discipline specific writing for learners versus experts, writing in English versus writing in Romanian on various writing expertise levels.

I am a senior lecturer/ assistant professor at the Faculty of Letters, History and Theology, from the West University of Timisoara, with a PHD degree on the topic of oral classroom discourse analysis. My research activity and interest lie mainly in the field of applied linguistics (esp. oral communication, CA, English language teaching, translation studies, linguistics), as reflected in my publications. In recent years I have been involved in projects concerned with the field of education and teacher training, both at tertiary and secondary level education and, digital competence development for philology students, during my post-doctoral research. I consider that through DACRE I could bring my own contribution to the research of academic writing by exploring the perspective of corpus linguistics.

I am a junior lecturer at the Faculty of Letters, History and Theology of the West University of Timișoara, interested both in literary studies (migration and intercultural literature, digital literature, literature and social media, Romanian literature) and the field of academic writing. Being involved in DACRE is an excellent opportunity to develop the connection between digital humanities and improving academic writing skills, a domain which is still not explored enough in the Romanian academic community.

Because of my passion for literature, and especially for grammar, I chose the Bachelor's Degree in Languages and Literature: English-Romanian and I am currently enrolled in the Theory and Practice of Translation Master's Degree (Faculty of Letters, History and Theology). During my university years, I gathered (and I continue to gather) knowledge that help me keep this passion alive and I consider that I will be able to apply this knowledge in the DACRE Project. Moreover, I have an eye for details and I like to explore new areas of interest, outside my comfort zone. That's why I believe that the DACRE Project offers a good opportunity to learn new things and to better understand what academic research truly means.

With a bachelor’s degree in Languages and Literature, specialisation English and German, I am currently an MA student in American Studies at West University of Timisoara. Some of my main interests are literature, film, linguistics, as well as research and academic writing. As an undergraduate, I volunteered at several film festivals.
